The Cosmelan Process
We start with a consultation - we'll assess your skin, to ensure you are a good candidate for Cosmelan®, and sit down with you to discuss your skin goals.
We'll also talk you through the downtime, and the treatment process. Once you're happy with everything, we'll book in your Cosmelan® treatment.
How Does Cosmelan Work?
Cosmelan® contains an active blend of pigment lightening ingredients, including: azelaic acid, kojic acid, arbutin, phytic acid, and ascorbic acid.
The mechanism of Cosmelan® is based on the inhibition of tyrosinase, a basic enzyme in the melanin formation process.
The treatment causes significant resurfacing of the skin, which actively removes existing pigmentation.

What's the downtime?
During the first 24-48 hours the skin can appear pink, to varying degrees, and warmth and tightness of the skin are normal.
During the first 5-7 days following treatment, the skin will be more sensitive than usual, will feel dry, and will be actively shedding (aka, peeling/flaking). During this time, you will be using aftercare products provided to you in the Cosmelan® kit.
Is there any discomfort?
There is no discomfort during the Cosmelan® treatment, but the skin can feel uncomfortable and sensitive during the 5-7 day recovery process, as the skin is resurfaced.
How many will I need, and how often?
Cosmelan® is done in a single peel session. After you have completed your peel, you will maintain your results with Cosmelan® 2 cream at home (this is included in your Cosmelan® kit).
How much does it cost?
Cosmelan® costs $1850, and this price includes: one cosmelan peel, full size sunscreen, cleanser, toner, hydrating mask, and additional homecare products, and one tub of Cosmelan 2 cream.
