The process.
For effective treatment, it's key to understand why the pigmentation developed in the first place.
Common causes of pigmentation include acne/breakouts, hormonal changes (eg. pregnancy), sun exposure, and trauma to the skin (post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation).

The cause of the pigmentation is always taken into consideration when creating a treatment plan.

Treating pigmentation always requires a two-pronged approach - we need to simultaneously remove existing pigment from the skin, and prevent the formation of new pigment (AKA, melanin inhibition).

Melanin Inhibiton
This is our first line treatment, and involves:

-
Implementing consistent sun protection (in many cases this means finding a sunscreen that you actually like and isn't too heavy for your skin)
-
Topical melanin inhibitors (serums with ingredients that actively regulate melanin production in the skin, including vitamins A, B, and C)
Clinical treatments.
Treatments in-clinic are the next step to accelerate clearance of existing pigmentation in your skin.
We typically utilise customised chemical peels (retinoid and acid based), and micro-needling.

Your skin therapist will determine which treatments would be best suited to your pigmentation, during your initial consultation.
